I have updated thru dell and microsoft and no solutions were found.
Is this a dell issue or a microsoft issue?
My specs are---
Dell studio XPS 1645, Win7 64bit, IE8

extacy1375,
Disconnect the printer.
Uninstall the printer.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
Download the Vista 64-bit drivers and save them to your desktop. Install the Vista 64-bit drivers in the Compatibility mode.
Links to the Vista 64-bit drivers can be found at...

WOW, I deleted all printer/fax programs and the drivers. I went to the driver page, redownloaded from the website site instead of using the CD and now all is working again.
I belive they might have updated the drivers to work with win7 64 bit now, or the check for update in dells program didnt work to well.
I did not have to use Compatibility mode.
THANK you again for your assit! :)

Hey, Thank You for a quick reply. I will post later if this works.
Just one question though, If this printer is compatible with Win7, why must I download vista drivers?
I ask this because I just bought this printer and my laptop is under a year old. I find this odd as there both from Dell as well.

extacy1375,
Let's just say the Vista drivers might be the same as the Windows 7 drivers. They may install better in the Compatibility mode, most of the older Dell Inkjet printers this works very well.

extacy1375,
Glad you got it working! :emotion-21: Thanks for posting back. Some models, Dell offers the Vista drivers as the Windows 7 drivers and sometimes installing then Vista(or XP) drivers in the compatibility mode, works well for problem drivers/software. Something to remember if you have an issue with some other type of driver/software.
Take care,
Rick

When I try to print anything but test pages, the paper goes through without printing. My printer does copy and prints photos. Can anyone help with this? It doesn't give an error message. Joe

John,
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, then restart your computer.
Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.
Start, control panel, programs and features(Windows 8 and 8.1 Hit the Windows key and the x keys at the same time, programs and features) your printer, uninstall.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 or download the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 and save them to your desktop.
Download the drivers from Dell V515w Wireless All In One Printer - (RED) owners thread
On the printer, click on the wrench, look for reset the wireless adapter back to factory settings and rest it.
Install the drivers in the Vista SP2 Compatibility mode choose new setup, then network and follow the instructions. It should prompt you to connect your printer using the usb cable . Then it will ask for your network SSID and password. (Hint: it helps to use the Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11)
Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications.
