May be bad news. Here's the error description:

< ESS FontROM Error (Main) >
Checksum error for ROM with built-in font store occurred.

Try one of these procedure to attempt recovery.

Procedure 1:
1.  Power off the unit and disconnect all data cables
2.  Press and hold the Menu button while powering on the unit
3.  Continue to press the Menu button until the LCD indicates "Diagnosing...", then release
4.  The LCD indicates "Init Password", "Are You Sure", press the check-mark (enter) button
5.  The LCD indicates "Yes" or "No",  press the either arrow to select "NO" then press enter

If that failed, try procedure 2:
1. Turn the printer off and disconnect all data cables
2. While turning the printer on, press Menu + Left + Right at the same time (can release after LCD indicates "Diagnosing....")
3. Password(PW) = Up, Up, and Enter
4. Press the Down (or Up) arrow button to "Installation Set"; Press Enter
5. Press the Down (or Up) arrow button to "NVM Init";  Press Enter
6. Press Enter on “OK?”;  Press Enter
7. Power the printer off, wait 5 secs, power on

If both failed, you'll need a new ESS board, Dell p/n N5949. You'll need to contact Dell for that... I have no idea of the cost.

I have a Dell 3110cn, and have been using it for years with the 016-310 error -- I just bypass it by holding down the menu, selecting "No" at Init password prompt, and then using it like normal.

I tried the second procedure, but it still has the error.  The printer works flawlessly other than this, so is there a more complete 'factory reset' or similar that I can do?

Thanks.
