Printer Help (repost)

I am experiencing difficulty with my printer. I have owned a Dimension 8400 for almost 6 months now and am using the printer which was supplied with it (I assume someone will hopefully know the make of printer, as all I can find is 'Dell').

I am now unable to print, as the paper only seems to feed down one side, and jams. There does not seem to be anything blocking inside, and different paper types don't give a different result.

I have a black ink cartridge below the minimum level, so can this be a reason? Sorry, I'm not very technical. I would really appreciate some help with this ASAP as I am a student and am unable to print out my coursework.

I have managed to fix the problem (hopefully) myself but now I have a new problem - every time I attempt to print, I get a message saying that it cannot communicate with the printer. All leads are fine.

Try clearing the printer queue

Start>control panel>printers and other hardware>printers and faxes>right click printer icon and choose cancel all documents

the printer icon should say "0' Ready"
