Dear Silver,

Right click on the bar at the bottom of your desktop.  A menu window will pop up.  Click on Properties at the bottom of the menu to bring up the TASKBAR AND START MENU PROPERTIES window.  Click on Customize to bring up a secondary window.  There should be several icons with programs listed (volume, printer, security, etc.) along with Behavior.  Click on the printer line.  The behavior will show a menu offering: Always show; Always hide; Hide when inactive.  Change the behavior to Always hide, then click OK, and OK again.  This should keep this icon hidden.

I wouldn't have thought of this. Now when I log into windows, the printer icon stays hidden because at this time, there are only two icons that remain in view and I have to click on the arrow to see other ones. Thanks for the tip.
