Problem with black ink v313w printer

Question

I recently replaced both black and color ink cartridges in my v313w printer, and while the color works just fine, any documents I try to print in black ink will not print at all.  I even went as far as purchasing another new black ink cartridge and cleaned the print head, but nothing has worked.  Any suggestions or help are greatly appreciated so that I can get back to printing in black!

First try...

start, control panel, printers and faxes, your printer, printer preferences. Make sure it's set for all available ink.

Thanks for your note. The last two black print cartridges I purchased stopped printing although there appeared to be at least half the ink left. I could print by selecting "coloured ink only" and get black print but not on "use all available ink". The test page came out blank where there should have been black. I cleaned the print head and realigned but to no avail. In desperation I have just purchased a new ink cartridge and this is working all right so far. Obviously the cartridges work out quite expensive if you can only use half the ink. Look forward to your comments. Please note my email address is now
