Press the “Setup” button (wrench button) on the printer.
Select “Maintenance” from the menu.
Select “Deep clean Printhead” option.
The printer will perform deep cleaning of both ink cartridge and the print head and it will print a test page, check the test page .if the test page has fine colors on it then try printing again, if the test print is not fine then a Firmware update for the printer should take care of the problem.
To update the Firmware software for the printer follow the below steps:
Note: Firmware can be updated by connecting the printer and computer with a USB cable,

Del,
Once you get the replace mesage, the sensor in the cartrige will make it so the printer will not work without it.
The low ink message will not go away, even using the instructions in the Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges

Wow! you are fast.
However, I never mentioned any print quality problems.
I guess I could update the firmware. It is a hassle to connect my printer with a USB.

Rick,
Can you send me the link for a new print head from lexmark for my dell V515W?
I went to the Lex site and I can't locate it again.
Thanks,

The low ink message is resettable, however once I get the message to replace the cartridge, there is no way to work around.
Until someone makes a device to reset the chip or sells a new chip, I will try new compatible guaranteed cartridges.
I can buy either cartridges for less than 1/3 of Dells price.
When I try them, I will post a new message.
Thanks Rick
