Scanner locked?

Help, I have a 1600N Dell B&W lcaser;photo copier; scanner; printer.  The display says the scanner is locked and to press cancel to unlock.  How?  I don't have an instruction book and I don't know how to unlock the scanner so it works as a fax machine again.

I have the same problem.  Is there any response from Dell on this issue with the message 'unlock scanner' on the Dell 1600n?  There's no mechanism to unlock the scanner after reading all the available manuals.  Rgds, TN

The mechanism is just where the paper arrive after to be print you have to pull a blue stuff.

I tried to move that blue knob back and forth many times.  But 'unlock scanner' error continues.  After several months of not having a scanner, I now can no longer print, keep getting 'pc print pending'.  I tried reset and turn off/on etc and still got error.   Thank you your help.  TN

I am also having this problem. I can't seem to unlock it by moving the blue switch. Any ideas?
