Scanning with V305 Printer

With my old XP computer and my HP printer I could place a picture in the printer click scan and then tranfer that picture to my pictures folder.  I have tried that with my new Vista computer and V305 printer.  I get a message that says I need OCR software to accomplish my task.  What is OCR and where do I get it.  Will I be able to then accomplish my task?

You don't need optical recognition software (OCR) when scanning a picture. That's only for text. You need to change the settings on your scanner from text recognition or black and white document to image scanning. Install the software that came with your HP all in one or visit HP site to download it or get help. Some scanner/printers need updated drivers to work with Vista. Check HP for vista drivers.
