Using Dell Photo 966 all-in-one printer with Samsung Chromebook.
Greetings.
I have a Dell photo 966 all-in-one printer and a Samsung Chromebook.
I haven't another computer to act as a printer for cloud-print, and the Chromebook doesn't connect directly to the printer via USB.
While the printer can use a wireless connection, it can't connect to Google cloud printing without a PC.
Cam the SD card be used to print documents eg ones created in .doc or .pdf formats?
What type of files on the SD card will the '966 print? Does it just print .jpg and other graphics files?
Are there any other ways I can print from the Chromebook on the Photo 966?

Leadfree,
This is an older model Dell Inkjet printer and was manufactured befor cloud printing was even an option.
You should be able to use the printer wirelessly, if your printer has the wireless adapter installed. It will need to use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11. I would make a new SSID to make connecting easier.
If you have a desktop computer, you can print wirelessly using the network, if the desktop id plugged in to the wireless router. The router will send the signal to the printer. No usb cable needed.
The only way that I can figure to print from a phone of some type, would to install something like Team Viewer, email the document to a computer on your network, then print it from that system.

Leadfree,
Dell V525w and Dell V725w Inkjet printers are the only two Inkjet printers that support Cloud printing. The onle way to print from a tablet, would be to email the document to another computer on your network that has the printer attached(computer and printer would need to be powered on) then remote in to that computer using something like Team Viewer. The check your mail and then you can print that document.
I have a iPhone and I have the Dell V715w Printer. I can see the printer but not print. Have tried different apps but no luch. I felt at some point, it was not really that important and gave up.

Hi Rick.
I haven't (yet) tried the wireless interface for the printer, but I suspect the wireless interface by itself can't connect to Google's cloud site where they have the printing software.
Google recommend installing their print software on another office PC. But I haven't another computer in the office - just my wireless modem, and I suspect I would need the wireless interface plus a PC to run the cloud interface software. I could be wrong, and the "Recommended Wireless Router Settings" might make the wireless interface card connect to Google's cloud site, but I think that's unlikely. From my limited networking knowledge I think the wireless interface would need a networking stack plus software to connect to Google's cloud site. I suspect it can only connect to the office network and no more.
It would be nice if I were proved wrong.

Yes I know this question is from 2013. It was answered incorrectly.
The user had no other computer.
It doesn't matter how you configure the router.
Most WIndows devices, Apple devices , Linus devices and Android devices can print directly to most wireless printers and network printers through the local router.
Chromebooks could not and cannot unless Dell has a Chrpme extension designed for this purpose..
Chromebooks can only print to Google cloud print-connected printers.
If the printer can print PDFs from a USB stick, you can print from the chromebook as PDF saved or copied to that stick'
if Dell has a print by email service for that printer, you can use it. (Canon, HP, Epson, Samsung and others have such services for some of their printers)
If none of the above is available, buy a new printer designed to work with Google cloud print.
