What does 3115cn error code 117-363 mean after a firmware upgrade failure?
Hi,
I just received a replacement 3115cn after the old one failed within warranty. I noticed the firmware was old so just tried to update it via USB and the printer is now saying to call support with error code 117-363. No power glitches or loose power / data cords etc. It copied across fine then just failed to complete start-up after reboot.
The only relevant fact I can think of is that the MPC had the latest firmware on it as it was transplanted across from the old one, but the core firmware was older than the protocols supported in the MPC. That's why I was trying to upgrade in the first place, as I'd lost a bunch of new features only having the old core version installed.
I'll be calling it in first thing, but wanted to ask if anyone knew in advance. (It would be a big help if every error code was publicly listed on Dell's web site then I could look it up myself.)

This error is an NVM CheckSum Error on the HYUI board. The HYUI board is the board located behind the first board seen when you open the back of the card cage. This board handles all the FAXing and Scanning operations.

Thanks for the reply. I have a service call booked to replace the board in question.
It's a shame that there isn't a bootROM mode or equivalent to completely clear the NVRAM and reinitiate a firmware download from the factory-installed ROM image. It must cost Dell a fortune in board replacements when this happens. I'm used to working with Cisco products which can do this if they get upset about their firmware image or NVRAM settings getting corrupted during an upgrade.
The Dell engineer I spoke to told me it happens quite a lot, but they haven't found out yet if a particular sequence of upgrades or some other deterministic combination of installed components is causing the issue.

I killed my machine once with this exact same error. Found out that soemone had sent a print job while I had the machine in diagnostic mode. So now, I get in the habit of disconnecting all uneeded cables or isolating the printer from the network when operating the machine in any "offline/update" mode.
