Where do I find instructions for installing memory upgrade in 3100 cn Color Laser Printer?

I have just installed the new color laser 3100 cn printer.  Now I am trying to find the instructions on how to install the 256 Mb upgrade memory that was recommended I buy for this printer.  In none of the information I have received, searched on the web and looked for in this forum can I find any reference to memory upgrade, location, etc.
Can someone point me in the right direction?

thanks

Jim,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

  1. Power the 3100cn off and unplug all cables.
  2. Remove the Control Board Cover.   As you face the 3100cn, the Control Board cover is on the left side. Place a thumb in the slot at the top of the cover. Then pull the cover down and away from the 3100cn.
  3. Make sure the tabs on the DIMM slot are fully open.
  4. Align the notches in the DIMM with the plastic keys in the memory slot.  Remember to hold the memory from the top and be careful not to touch the edge connectors.
  5. Press the DIMM into the slot until the tabs close to secure the memory in place.
  6. Replace the control board cover.   Align the tabs ont he bottom of the cover with the notches in the chassis. Press the cover against the chassis until it snaps into place.
  7. Reconnect the power cord and the nework or USB cable. Then power on the 3100cn.

Jim

Any chance you can post some comments about the printer? Any problems with it yet?

How does the print quality compare to any other color laser printers you might have experience with?

I haven't been able to find my reviews or opinions on this printer yet, but it sure is alot cheaper than a comparably equiped HP!

thanks

Bruce,

We are very pleased with the printer.  Currently it is on one system only, but we will network it next week.

Quaility is very good.  I set up two drivers, one for full color and on for black only.  It prints far quicker this way.  Color is very sharp and defined.  Photos, .jpg files, etc. come out sharp.

For the Price it is a good value.  We would buy it again.

Is there a multi-function version that includes scanning (TWAIN-compliant)?
