I'm rather surprised that the Dell techs on the telephone or online support could not help you with this.  It's a relatively common error that can almost always be traced to a 'spooling' error.  In other words, your computer is having trouble finishing the translation of the document from computer language to printer language.  This almost always means that something is interfering with the print spooler serverice.  9/10 times this is a software conflict in the registry.

Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch. It will completely remove the printer from your computer. Restart your computer.

Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer. Download drivers and firmware.

Install your printer drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect it.

Then install the firmware.

Scanning

Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.

Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.

Hit the Windows Key and R Key at the same time.

Should bring up the run command.

type     services.msc     hit enter

Look at the Print Spooler

Make sure it's set for Automatic. Also restart the service.

The printer should print. But if you have to do this everytime to get the printer to work, do what I suggested in the forum post.

If you decide to re-install the printer to correct this, download and run this patch. It will completely remove the printer from your computer. Restart your computer.

Download the proper drivers. Below are the most popular drivers. If you need different drivers, just post in the forum, I can give you a link to the proper drivers.(Knowing your Operating System would help)

XP Drivers

Vista 32-bit Drivers

Install the proper drivers, you'll be prompted when to connect it.

If you are using a 3300 wireless print adapter, the install process changes.
