stop printing when tray is empty
I am trying to configure a Dell 5100 to stop printing once the specified tray is empty. The only way I have been able to accomplish this is on the client (PCL driver only; this isn't an option w/ the PS driver) via specifying the 'Display Message' option for the Substitute Tray parameter. Is there a way to do this globally so each client (and their print jobs) all take on this new setting?
Oddly enough, the 'Display Message' option isn't available on the printer itself; it's only available from the client. What's weird is that every other option (feed from MPF, use next size, and use largest size) is available on both the print server settings and on the client.
What's currently happening is that when the first tray (plain letter size paper) is empty the printer automatically pulls from the next tray, which is letterhead. This is messing up the print jobs as they need to come out on blank paper, not to mention it's wasting the more expensive letterhead.
Any ideas?
