Word 2002 documents open and close very slow

Question

Lets try this again.   word documents open and close slow.  The program open ok.  I have deleted normal.dot and reinstalled program have run the repaiir, have uninstalled and reinstalled.  Not much more I can think of.  I would appeciate any suggestions.   Thanks

If you are running Norton Antivirus, I'd suggest going to the options screen, miscellaneous, and remove the check for Enable Office Plugin.

I've been struggling with this problem for months.  (I have Works Suite 2006 which comess with Word 2002 included). I suggest that anyone having this problem should try the following, It worked for me instantly.    Have a look under 'Control Panel > Add/Remove programmes' and see if you can find ' Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Microsoft Word'. If you find it, remove it, by clicking on the 'remove' button. That should fix the problem without losing any features that you will miss. What exactly this add-in is , I can't say. All I can say Is that it cured my problem and my Word2002 now opens and closes almost instantaneously.  I have yet to find any facilities that I've lost by removing this add-in program.   Hope this helps
