Off the top of my head I can think of two applications that will extract the Service Tag number. The Belarc Advisor, and System Information for Windows (SIW). You can google for their web addresses. Each on will retrieve the Service tag number and a lot of additional information. I find that Belarc Advisor easier to use, while SIW provides more information. One nice feature of the Belarc Advisor, when connected to the Internet, is that it checks that all Microsoft update have been applied.
