Generally that is a Registry Filter corruption.  It could have been caused by what you deleted in Sonic (Roxio) as they are known for this or just a common Windows XP caused corruption.

Here is the Microsoft automated repair that will fix the problem   http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cd_dvd_drive_problems

If this does not take care of the problem, repost in the DISK DRIVE section of the forum - the forum section for CD/DVD drive problems.
