Please perform the following steps to troubleshoot:
Step 1: Please boot up the system in Safe Mode by using the F8 key on windows startup.
Please follow the following steps:
Open msconfig (Start>Run>msconfig)
Under Startup tab, select “Disable All”
Under Services tab, check “Hide all Microsoft Services” box at the bottom
Uncheck everything remaining
Restart the computer in normal mode and you should be able to perform the update successfully.
If after performing these steps, you still face issues updating the application, please perform step 2.
Step 2: Please use the DSL (Datasafe Local Backup) Troubleshooting Tool. This feature can be accessed by Navigating to DSL folder (i.e. C:/Program files(x86)/Dell DataSafe Local Backup for a 64 Bit Operating System or C:/Program files/Dell DataSafe Local Backup for a 32 Bit Operating System) to run the QTtool.
Please follow the following steps precisely:
Run the QTtool Lite application as Administrator. (will generate a camera image)
Click on the camera to take a screenshot & gather the log files.
A screenshot will be taken and a zip file is placed on the desktop.
To Unlock the Recover partition, please use the key strokes: Ctrl + Shift + U
The Recovery Partition will now be visible.
You might have to open a command prompt in order to view the contents of the Dell\image folder. This creates "Dell-PC-Capture" folder, which has all the log files that are required to troubleshoot.
Re-lock the partition when you are done to protect the partition.
Once the "Dell-PC-Capture" folder is created on desktop, please send us the folder containing the log files. We check the logs and provide you with a resolution.
