Datasafe Local - doesn't restore Quicken QDF files
Hi
Datasafe does not restore my Quicken QDF files. It does restore other Quicken files.
I have a 5 year old Inspiron. Recently it became slow to the point of being unusable - even in safe mode. Repairing the OS did not remedy the situation. Diagnostics indicated no hardware problem.
I used the Repair Partition OS: Datasafe local backed everything up, the repair partition reinstalled the OS, the Inspiron was rebooted, Datasafe local restored all data (including whatever it restores for Windows). the laptop was rebooted and it was still too slow to be usable.
I used the Repair Partition to reload the OS a 2nd time. Then only restored user data.
After rebooting a 3rd time, Windows functions normally. But a number of user files have not been restored. Datasafe produced no error message. But it did not restore QDF, DAT or PDFs! This is not an exhaustive list.
I tried restoring Financial Data into a folder, and much was restored the 2nd time, but again there are no QDF, DAT files. Also, there are fewer QFX files restored the 2nd time than before.
Does anyone know Datasafe well enough to help me understand what is happening & how to get all of my files restored?

Quicken uses its own backup utility not dell BU. It's on the quicken menu and should be used every day and stored on external disks or drives. Backups are restored by using Restore on the quicken menu.
It sounds like you should run the dell diagnostics to check the hard drive--run the Custom Hard Drive scan in the Diagnostics to see if the drive is failing. You should not have backed up anything since you were having problems. Backups would contain the same errors and Quicken is never included anyway. Backups must be done before trouble starts and when everything is working well.

Are you saying that Dell Datasafe backs up some Quicken files but not others because Quicken has a backup utility? Datasafe claimed to backup everything. And it did backup some QFX files, it restored some QFX files, but not others.
Dell diagnostics indicated the HD is OK.
