Dell Backup and Recovery: Differences between features?

Features are Bootable Backup, Manage Rescue Disk, Check Rescue Disk, Factory Backup, and Applications and Drivers.

Bootable Backup creates on a USB stick a Restore Point like Windows’ own System Restore.

Factory Backup creates on a USB stick a copy of the computer’s factory image.

Applications and Drivers puts on a USB stick the applications, drivers, and utilities that were preinstalled on the computer.

Am I correct in thinking I need to do the following to prepare in case of a hard drive crash:

Create on a USB stick the Bootable Backup.

Create on the same USB stick (so I don’t have to have two) the Factory Backup.

Ignore the Applications and Drivers, because the Bootable Backup and Factory Backup will already have the applications, drivers, and utilities that were preinstalled on the computer.

Thanks!

 nielloeb,

You may want to get 2 usb keys: one for the factory image and the other for the Apps and Drivers and utilites. Yes, the factory image should have all the information that came on the system when it was delivered to you..

Thanks for the reply DELL-Jesse L.

Before I got your reply, I called Dell Home/Consumer Customer Support.  They told me I need only do the Bootable Backup, saying that creates on a USB stick not only the computer’s factory image, but also the applications, drivers, and utilities that were preinstalled on the computer.

Therefore, the Bootable Backup does both a Factory Backup and the Applications and Drivers backup.
