Dell DataSafe Local Backup Program - Caution
I have a new Dell Studio XPS 9100 computer amd it came with the Dell Datasafe Local Backup Basic Program. Yesterday I deicided to upgrade it to the Premium Edition (cost $40.00) based on an assurance by a Dell tech person, that the upgraded version would allow you to save backup image files below the root directory of a destination hard drive. Unless I have missed seeing this capability, this is not present in the upgraded version. So basically I have wasted $40.00.
Additionally, when I tried to make an image backup with the upgraded version, after about ten minutes, on the progress bar it was only 5 percent!! So I terminated the image backup. I plan to uninstall the program as soon as possible. There are three entires listed in the Programs and Features catagory (Dell DataSafe Local Backup)(Dell DataSafe Local Backup - Support Software)(Dell DataSafe Online). I would appreciate it very much if someone could comment as to safety of me Uninstalling all three of the mentioned entries, and any other files and folders associated with this program.
For the moment, I will continue to us the Windows 7 Prof image backup program, but unfortunately it has the same problem as the Dell DataSafe Local Backup program in that you can only save to the root level of a destination hard drive. I am looking seriously at buying the ShadowProtect Desktop Edition for Backup purposes.
Thanks for any help, Sam.
