I have the exact same problem! Except I have a lot of data. But Even after 7 hours it has not completed. In fact there is very little CPU usage and there is no hard disk activity which convinced me that it simply freezes at some point.

Help Please

I used Dell's Backup and Recovery software to restore my computer. I chose the option to back up my personal files to an external USB hard drive. How do I recover those files? When I chose the option to restore personal data and click on the browse button, I get the message that no backup archive is found.

Actually if I force the application to shutdown after 10 or 11 hours, there is no change in the used space on the external hard disk (backup location). Instead , the next time  I start my computer, dell backup ad recovery pops up after the login screen but before the desktop loads, saying: 'Installing Dell backup and Recovery' and 'Encrypting recovered files'.

Did this software go through any kind of quality testing? I haven't been able to use this even once in the 6 months since I purchased it. Useless.

I've just upgraded to Windows 10. After updating Dell Backup and Recovery, I tried creating a system backup. At first it simply would not detect the hard disk or tell me 'this media cannot be used with this device' (or something like that). It also hung while creating a Factory restore image.

The trick to make it work is to make sure that no Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer windows are open. This way I managed to create a recovery image to my external hard drive. At this point the occupied space on my hard disk was 12.2GB

Then I created a system backup. Now the hard disk usage is 13GB. I'm not sure WHAT it actually backed up. Sure it didn't throw an error or freeze up, but there is NO WAY it could have backed up all my data in such little space.

Seems this software really is useless.

Seriously guys???? And some of you actually paid for this mess!!!! I'm getting annoyed just trying to get this STUPID app. to install. I'm actually about to stop the installation. Especially after reading the reviews!!! I have been an avid fan of Dell's products since I bought my first computer from them in 1999, but for the first time in almost 20 years I am actually bitterly disappointed.
