I'm getting this same error message Mike.  I looked in Task Manager and there is a process running, dmiinfo.exe *32, if you open the file location it takes you to a folder for Dell Backup and Recovery.  I doubt this is malware.  I can't really find any relevant information online about dmiinfo, but DMI (desktop management interface) is what keeps track of what hardware and software is on the computer.  That's all I've been able to figure out so far.  I can reboot the computer and it will be fine and the dmiinfo service won't be running (so far at least).

My user is still getting that error.  I am uninstalling Dell Backup and Recovery to see if that fixes anything.

Hello,

I would like to know if you have found the solution for this problem.

Thank you!

Best wishes,

dmiinfo.exe can a backdoor Trojan horse that uses malicious scripts in the DBAR client software, allowing unauthorized remote access.

If you have upgraded windows then you may need to unistall older versions and update to the newest.

"Error 0x4001100200001005 if problem persists contact Dell support".

The reason you get Error 0x4001100200001005 is because the OEM hard drive was replaced with a retail hard drive.  OEM drives are "tattooed" or branded and the DELL recovery media will search for it before installing.  This is also why you cannot clone Dell Drives to new blank hard drives.
