Hi LoriG,

I noticed the above link given to you was broken, and wanted to see if I could help you further.

I've run across this error message before, and I'm just curious...do you have a previous version of Office installed on your computer, say Office 2000, for example, and then tried to install office xp?  I'm also assuming you're having a problem with Outlook 2002, correct?  If so, there are several resolutions for you, that should help.  You can obtain the Office XP service pack 1, which should take care of the problem.

You can refer to this technical article from Microsofts website, that should help you work around this problem, as well as how to obtain the service pack:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;293058&Product=ol2002

One part of that technical article, refers to manually creating a profile in Outlook 2002.  Here's a better way of going about that, because I'll bet you've got two outlook user profiles, and one of those two isn't working correctly.  If installing the Office XP service pack 1 doesn't help, try this:

1.  Close outlook 2002.

2.  open control panel, then click on MAIL, and then click on SHOW PROFILES.

If you see two Outlook profiles listed, and also see something checked off that says "ALWAYS USE THIS PROFILE, then do the following:

3.  Click on "PROMPT FOR PROFILE", then click on "APPLY", and then "OK".
4.  If the MAIL applet window closes, go back into Control Panel, click on MAIL, and then click on the "SHOW PROFILES" tab.

5.  Choose the other profile that's listed, and then click on the option "ALWAYS USE THIS PROFILE".

6.  Click on "APPLY", and then "OK".

Shutdown, reboot your computer, and you should be good to go from there, once you open up outlook 2002 again.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

techguy
