Excel library stdole32.tlb missing each time launched

I recently upgraded to Vista Basic but kept Office 2002.  It generally works fine except with Excel.  Everytime I open Excel i get an error message that stdole32.tlb is missing or damaged.  It runs setup and then opens.  Suggestions?

Try starting Excel without add-ins.

Start, Run, then type the following:

excel /safe

Click OK.

Does Excel start OK?

Note:If your Vista menu does not have Run, do the following:
Right click the Start button, choose Properties, click the Customize button for the Start Menu. Scroll to find Run Command and place a check. Click OK to close the Start button properties.

I get a message that windows cannot find excel.  I used the browse feature and have not found the app in my c:/ directory.  I cannot find the address for excel noted in the start tab for excel either (although when i click on it it will open - with the problem noted below)??

It should be in

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10\excel.exe
