Help! Cannot get access to the My Dell Downloads website to reinstall Dell Stage

Hello,

I only got this laptop a few weeks ago and I've already sent two emails to Dell today to try and fix this problem but no response at all. Basically it started behaving a bit strangely where it stopped running the Dell programs properly i.e. it didn't recognise the Dell battery as a Dell one, the icon for Dell Stage got corrupted and looked like a broken image, and then I couldn't log into the Dell Support Centre (it said something about not being authenticated). I did a system restore to try to fix it and a full virus scan but nothing helped.

So I went to the Dell website and re-downloaded the Dell Support Centre and then ran a full scan (which was fine). The Support Centre now recognises the Dell battery and the pop-up hasn't come back again. Then the Dell Stage icon went back to normal again. Then suddenly for no reason at all the icon was corrupted again. I have no idea why it changed again. I went onto the forums and someone had said to uninstall Dell Stage and then re-install it from "My Dell Downloads". I uninstalled it but now I can't get into "My Dell Downloads". After I click on the green button "Register System", I get a few pop-ups to allow it to run and then a button saying "retry or cancel" and then it just does nothing! I turned off all of my firewalls and manually went into the my security settings to turn absolutely everything off but I still can't get into the website.

This is really annoying! Is it just a problem with Dell Stage or is it My Dell Downloads or is it something more serious with the laptop??

Sorry for such a long question but Dell haven't replied to me at all.

Have you tried using My Dell Downloads on another computer? That would let you know if its a problem with your computer or the My Dell Downloads website.

Note 1: Use 32 bit Internet Explorer for My Dell Downloads (it usually won't work on Chrome or Firefox)

Note 2: Once you have downloaded something, save it to an external hard drive as it only lets you download each item 3 times.

Hi,

Thank you for your response, I finally managed to get into My Dell Downloads by running Internet Explorer in compatability mode and that fixed it. There were loads of options on there to download and most of them had Stage in the title like "Stage - Music" "Stage - Photo". I downloaded lots of them but it hasn't restored Stage properly. I can access Stage Photos, Music etc through the start menu but it hasn't restored Stage properly to how it was before. Originally it came up as a long floating icon on the desktop but the download hasn't done that. It's all over the place now and it also hasn't restored the Accuweather gadget that it came with.

Do you know how to get it back properly as it was before. I just went onto Dell Data Safe and used restore on Stage but that didn't appear to change anything at all.

Not sure what to do now?

Hi there. I have an Inspiron SE 7520 laptop. Windows7 was re-installed and drivers installed by dell. I am unable to download the factory installed software on my machine. I cannot use integrated webcam because I am unable to access the website to start the software download. I have turned off all my firewalls and set Internet explorer on compatibility mode. I reached as far as the "Register System" page and it goes no further. I have tried countless times with Dell Support explaining to them what my issue is but it still remains unresolved.

When I select "Register" a window pops up saying "that a website wants to open web content using this program on your computer"

When I select "Allow" the window pops up again prompting the exact same options.

Can anyone assist please??

Hi ssk2013,

Have you installed the JAVA plug-in on the computer? If not, then you need to have JAVA to run the website properly. To download JAVA, click here. Once JAVA is installed then close Internet Explorer and open it again. Then navigate to the Gear icon on the right hand side and then click on it and select Manage Add-ons like on the image below :

After that, you will see a window pop-up like below.

The highlighted one's are for JAVA. If disabled, you need to enable them. So select them and enable. Once enabled, click on close and then reload the webpage to download factory download software. If it prompts you to Run or Allow the application then you can click to allow / run. Also reset the Internet explorer to factory settings by clicking on the gear icon and select internet options and then on the new window, navigate to Advanced Tab and then click on Reset and check on delete personal settings and then click on reset.

Also what softwares are you trying to download? Because for newer computers, not all softwares are present on the website that you are trying to access. Have you purchased any software that you are trying to download?

Awaiting for your reply.

Hi JYOTPAL F ..Yes java is turned on Internet explorer. I have also reset internet explorer and deleted personal settings. The same problem exists. I can't move forward from here. I am trying to download dell webcam central for my Inspiron 7520 laptop as well as roxio cd creator etc..All factory installed software are missing since windows was re-installed and I really need my webcam to be working. This laptop was bought in 2012 and is under warranty until 2015...

Hi ssk2013,

Did you click on Allow on the pop up box? Clicking on Allow will help you to proceed further. If its examining on computer, give it sometime. If its still on the same page examining your computer then you need to click refresh once and wait again. The webpage then shall open up.

You can also download Dell Webcam Central software from here by clicking on this http://bit.ly/TjXOwa .

Hope this helps and awaiting for your response.
