MS Word 2002 Runtime Error

Can anybody help please?  I'm having problems with my MS Word 2002 which I installed as part of my Work Suite 2003.  It happened a few weeks ago as well but since then I have carried out a complete system restore and it had been working fine since.  The error message says:-

Microsoft Visual C + + Runtime Library

Program C:\Program Files|Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE

abnormal program termination.

When I click on the OK button, it shuts the program down.   I use Windows XP.

I would appreciate help.  Thanks,

Kelv.

Mary, thanks for your help.  I took your advice and set about removing the Works in Word Suite Add-as per the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 322201 but the removal didn't work.  Part way through, it opened up the Microsoft Works Task Launcher and after a small delay, an Add or Remove Programs box appeared with the message Fatal error during installation.

I'm not quite sure what to do next.   If I uninstall Microsoft Works and Microsoft Works Task Launcher  (I don't use them), do you think this will make Microsoft Word work okay?  Its only really Word that I need.

If you can help further, I would be grateful.

Kelv.

I have Works and Word 2002 on my backup computer and I just uninstalled in this order: first the Works for Word add-in, second the Task Launcher, and third Works program itself. I did not uninstall the Works set up launcher at all because this will remove Word. Just leave it alone. If you have trouble with this order, switch the Task Launcher to first, the addin to second, then Works. Word still works fine.

Thanks again Mary.  I'll give it a go.
