SEMANA,

As long as the normal template is in Word it will never be bulletproof. See if the standard generic fix for nearly any Word problem (do a search for normal.dot with your system set to display hidden files and folders, delete all instances found) corrects this problem.

Problems with the normal.dot word default template file have been experienced with all versions of MS Word, beginning with Version 2.0. Evidently Microsoft does not have a clue how to resolve this specific issue and all its related problems. This issue is also relevant to the numerous, longterm, ongoing problems with new Dell Community Forum. The Dell Webmaster can't seem to resolve those either.

I then did a search for hidden files and found the normal.dot and deleted it. Then I opened the document and did a sort and got and error message and the program closed. I went through this process a couple of times and eventually it did sort the table and saved it properly. Thanks very much for your help.

I did a search twice for normal.dot and came up with nothing both times.

The program of "Microsoft Office Word 2003" dissapeared from my settings. What can I do to restore it?
