Managing Dell Data Safe on-line Data

I recently upgraded my client and now the amount of backup space consumed has increased significantly due to items from my old client PC.   How do I purge on-line backup data to reduce the space consumed.  I have reviewed the on-line help, which appears to be of limited value for anything.

Hello Atokheim,

Below is information on purging data from DSO.

When customer purges a file, Dell DataSafe Online removes the selected file
from the online storage location.

By purging, user can manage their online storage space in a better way. They
can remove the files that they already backed up in the following
situations:

  • If users do not need a file that they have already backed up, they can
remove it from Dell DataSafe Online. When they remove a file from Dell DataSafe
Online, the online storage space that the file uses is made free. For example,
if they remove 2 GB of files from the online backup, the 2-GB online storage
space is made free. The available online storage space increases by 2 GB.
  • If customer runs out of the online storage space, they can remove some of
the less important files that they already backed up. For example, they have 5
GB of online storage and they back up their files regularly. If they exhausted
all 5-GB online storage space and they want to back up new files, they can
remove some of the unwanted backed up files.

Before users purge a specific file, they must make sure that you do not need
this specific file or data in future. When they purge a file, Dell DataSafe
Online removes the file from online storage location permanently. However, when
they remove a specific file, Dell DataSafe Online does not remove this file that
is stored on the local computer.

A NOTE indicates important information that helps you make better use of your computer. NOTE:
If user choose to purge, they cannot
restore the files in future. When they purge a file, Dell DataSafe Online
removes the selected file or data from the online storage location permanently.

Hi Jesse

When I logon to the DSO web porta (www.delldatasafe.com) l I do not see what you describe in your note above.   I have the following options available when I am at my portal home page:

  • Home
  • Access Files
  • Share Files
  • My Account
  • Help

None of these options contain a "file actions" option.

Is there another website they I am supposed to use to manage online content?

Regards

Al
