Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Small Business error message

Recently I started getting a message:

“Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Small Business

The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available, Insert the disk…”

I don’t have a disk, and I don‘t want to use this program ever.

This happens when I first boot up the computer, and when I start to open a Word or Excel document. I have to keep hitting Cancel until it goes away (until the next time).

How can I get rid of this annoying message permanently?

Hi Danny Kirwan,
Some more info is required, such as what is the model of the computer, what's the OS etc.  However you can try the following article if it is applicable.

In order to uninstall a program, follow the link as pe applicable:

I attempted to Uninstall “Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Small Business” and got an error message: “Error 1316 A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\data1.msi”

So it didn’t uninstall.

Additional information:

Dell Inspiron 530 (new computer) Vista Home Premium

The problem seems to have started after I transferred Program Files from the (old) XP computer, using the WET Companion.

Thanks for the link to Microsoft Support on this issue. Although it still refers to a CD-ROM that I don’t seem to have.

You cannot transfer Program Files from one computer to another. That's your problem. You must install from the original program disks--if you have retail disks. OEM programs that came with another computer cannot be transferred to a diff computer. You probably had a version of SBE Office in the old Program Files folder. Use Restore to go back to before you transferred the files. Windows Easy Transfer is only for personal settings like Favorites, Internet settings and personal files, not programs or folders.

Thank you.
I restored to the oldest available restore point (Jan 9) and the irritating message about

Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Small Business

stopped cropping up. However, now when I open an Excel file I get the message:

“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Library\Analysis\FUNCRES.XLA could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name and verify that the file location is correct.”

I never got this message before. Excel works fine without it.

Now what?
