Microsoft Word Starter 2010
I have the software previously installed when I purchased my laptop. When I opened a Word document, by default it would open this program. Now when I attempt to open a Word document, it opens a box that in effect demands I purchase Office. How do I continue to use Word Starter without purchasing Office? I can open Starter from the start menu, but I cannot save a document and open it with Starter. Any ideas?? Thanks so much!!!

Microsoft Office 2010 Starter is obsolete. I advise uninstalling it.
A better solution would be to download the SkyDrive for Windows Desktop App and use Microsoft Office 2013 Web Apps. These are both free and have more functionality than Office 2010 Starter.

Hello Mamaeagle,
In addition to what Philip has said, you may also refer to this thread on Microsoft Office 2010 starter (completely free). It has the direct download link for MS Office 2010 Starter provided by ShiverZ_HD.
Hope this helps!

If you need to download Starter again, it is better to go to Download Crew and get it. No other software needed to unzip it as in that thread above which leads to Zip App. Use this link--

The problem you are having with the real Word program opening up might be your file association has changed. Word Starter is not Word or winword.exe. Try right clicking on a doc and selecting Open With. Browse to the word starter file that has an obscure name and select always use this file to open docs.
