Software - Outlook 2007 will not open for first use with Windows Vista Business

When I first bought this laptop from Dell, it came with MS Office for Business 2007 and Win Vista for Business installed.  Since I've never known how to access my IMAP email account, I've never used Outlook 2007.  Now that I've tried, it won't let me in.  When I attempt to open Outlook 2007 for the first time, an error message
reads, 'The add-in "Outlook AddIns" (C:/WINDOWS/System32/Config/mco.dll)
cannot be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook.  Please contact the add-in
manufacturer for an update.  If no update is available, please uninstall the
add-in'.  A second error message reads, 'The connection to Microspft Exchange
is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
Of course, I am 'online' (wifi) and have not got a clue what to do even
after reading numerous threads and help menus.
Can anyone help?  Thank you.

It seems you have a spyware program on your PC. Click << here >> to download a trial of Spyware Doctor and remove the problem.

Sorry, I thought the program was at least a trial version.

If there is a spyware program on your PC, reinstalling Outlook will not help. What do you have for Antivirus? If it's Trend Micro or McAfee, each should include a spyware scanner that can be run.

Thank you Allan,

I tried downloading a trial version of Spyware Doctor and although it seemingly identified areas of concern, it makes no mention of the .dll file or Outlook and asks me for full payment.

I'm grateful for your help, but am suspicious of all 'spyware' products and don't know enough about what I'm doing.

Would it help for me just to reinstall Outlook 2007?

Thanks Allan.

I use AVG, have just run another full scan and removed all threats.  This problem has existed since I bought this laptop, less than 6 months ago.

I'm stumpted.

Try Control Panel, Mail, Show Profiles and let me know what profiles you have installed.

Allan,

Thanks for your help.  I fear that I'm not really helping you.  The Profiles that were added by me in the last 24 hours trying to solve this wretched problem are for two accounts, which I've called Outlook and Yahoo.  Using a recently installed Outlook Connector, my hope was that I could access one or more of my MAPI (I think that's what you call an Internet based account) accounts using Outlook.  I've changed the profiles to include an MSN HTTP and MSN MAPI email accounts with the Microsoft Exchange Server, which was there when I started.

Only the Exchange email account was there originally and is no longer the default, although Outlook still won't work.

Sorry not to give you an easier problem.
