Software Safe to Uninstall?
Just received my new Dell Inspiron and it is great. However, there are many extra Dell software apps installed and I would like to remove them. Could anyone tell me if these are safe to uninstall, and if not, why I need them? Thanks.
My Indentity Protection
XPS Viewer
Quickset 64
Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software
Intel PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth
Realtek Ethernet Controller Device
Intel WiDi
Dell DataSafe Local Backup
Dell Digital Delivery
Dell Stage
Dell Support Center
PC Checkup
Dell Webcam Central

Almost all of those are not "extras" and should not be uninstalled. DataSafe is needed to make Recovery Disks but you should also use Windows Backup and Restore to make another set. You need everything else except Identity Protection. You don't have to use the rest yet, but leave them installed. They don't take up much room on your new huge hard drive and you could break something. Quickset, Realtek and Webcam as well as Stage and all the Intel programs are needed. You will use them.

Hi, As Mary G said, I would keep all of them.

Most are essential unless you want reduced functionality. You can get rid of the following.
Dell DataSafe Local Backup (Make the recovery USB or DVD with it if you wish) or download a retail .iso (these may be found in my Microsoft Downloads Wiki - Link to Wiki List below and also a full guide - A clean install of Vista/7 may be useful should you use these .isos). Note if this is uninstalled you may still be able to perform a factory restore.
Dell Digital Delivery - not essential.
Dell Stage - Dell Media program/pictures/music/video I uninstalled it on my XPS and use some other programs instead.
Dell Support Center/PC Checkup - Does a hardware check, some people choose to uninstall it as its not essential but I quite like it.
