Look for Dell Support Center on the menu. Local Backup 2 is listed under Backup and Recovery or will let you download it. Make all the Recovery media in Dell DataSafe Local Backup and also use Windows 7's Backup and Restore to make another set. Use Windows Backup & Restore for backing up to an external drive. The free version of Dell Local Backup doesn't allow you to backup, just make recovery disks. You don't need to upgrade to backup your files. Everything you need comes with Windows 7. Open Backup and Restore (type in the Start Box) and set it up. It will--let you make a system repair disk you can use to boot to recovery options (datasafe calls it recovery disk), make a system image of the whole drive and backup your personal files. You need to have external media to store all these. An external hard drive is best for backups and system images. The Repair Disk can be either a cd or dvd.
