microsoft office 2003 document scan etc.
Think, this is the right place to post this?
Have a Dimension 3000, with XP Professional, and Office 2003 pre-installed. Purchased the HP Officejet All in One 6210 (printer, scanner, and fax), having document problems with the scanner loading the image into a Word document. Once scanned, the image tends to drift off the Word document off the page, until there is nothing. The document feeder works fine and does scan properly. Just doesn't save it. It also saves it into .pdf file format ok also.
Tried the Office 2003 document scan, and the document on the feeder loads fine, then it goes to scan, and then about three quarter through scanning the document, I receive an error message. Says it may be the document feeder, or something else. No error number or anything like that.
Don't know if it's the software with the HP or the Office files, or the hardware, or even the XP.
Couldn't find anything similar on the boards.
Does Dell technical service handle the Office software as it was pre-installed by them at the factory along with the XP operating system.

Thanks for the replies,
I've done the Office updates, but, I don't know what the differences are between the cd version Dell sent me with my computer, and what is or is not pre-installed on it. I assumed, the cd and the pre-installation are the same.
I purchased an HP All in One however, I'm having a lot of difficulty in scanning in text only documents which according to the manufacturer is supposed to go right into Microsoft Word. I've contacted their technical assistance several times, and have yet to get an answer. I used their software which came with the unit. The .pdf function works great, but sending a text document in .pdf creates a huge file for emailing. Thinking the Word document would be smaller and easier to send.
Then, I tried the scan function that is located on the Microsoft Office Tools, thinking, this would go right in. But, no it doesn't. It comes out looking strange and really terrible. At times, the scanned text document starts to drift off the word page, untill there is nothing but a blank word document on the screen.
If there is something on the cd disk, then maybe this is the route to go. It maybe in there.
