Try starting Outlook with a command line switch.

Outlook.exe /cleanreminders

-or-

Outlook.exe /cleanviews

-or-

Outlook.exe /cleanfreebusy

To do the above, click Start, Run and type the line. Click OK. If these do not help, try the following:

Outlook.exe /s

I discovered the problem.  It was my third-party firewall.  I have VCom System Suite Pro 7 and I read something on another forum that targeted a virus scanner as the problem.  So, I tried uninstalling SS7 and the problem went away.

I reinstalled with a fresh update from VCom and so far, all is well.  Something must have been corrupted causing the issue.

Thanks for the reply.
