where is 'dell media experience?!?!?'
I have recently had to format my C: drive, and reinstall the software - however, Dell Media Experience seems to be absent, and despite having had the man from the nearby computer shop go through all the disks that came with my machine, we can't seem to find it. Where is it? DVDs should load into the DME automatically, and they shouldn't either attempt to play in Windows Media, or display an error message concerning 'decoders'. Has anyone else had this problem? How can I get hold of a copy of the software, given that I've already paid for it?

DME is only to be obtained through bying a new pc with DME preinstalled upon it. Thechnical support said that it was to be considered a 'free' gift with a new pc, and therefor couldn't be considered as software being purchased! However they told me also that it is copied on 'some' of the 2/2 Eurotools cd, under 'Files', 'F2531setup.exe4'. But don't get your hopes up. I checked my cd and it wasn't there...

You can find the Dell Media software on the Dell System Tools CD

Regarding Dell Media Experience being on the Dell Tools CD, well, it is not on the CD that I have for my Inspiron 1150, as purchased around 17 July 2004.
I had to reinstall WinXP after an SP2 install failure, and Dell Media Experience is nowhere to be found.
I followed Dell Tech support's recommendation to load the CD and select ALL instead of Inspiron 1150, which is then suppsed to show the Dell Media Experience software for installation in the file list.
I followed the instructions and the software is not listed, but I wonder if I have the correct CD at all.
That's because my notebook did not include any CD labelled as "Dell Tools CD," but only a CD labelled "Drivers and Utilities". This CD as enlcosed with my 1150 has "P/N Y2986 Rev. A12" listed on its label.

Did you get other Dell Cd's? Look at the application CD if you can't find the Dell media experience on the Dell tools cd. If that doesn't work call Tech support and they should mail you the missing CD that contains the Dell Media experience. After you get the software installed I would recommend the $19.95 Dell media remote controller to controll all of your media files.
