3200MP Projector Colour Problems
We have recently purchased a 3200MP projector and have noticed that all the colours are bright and crisp except Yellow which is quite brown.
Any suggestions on correcting this behaviour?

Ahills,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
1.Bring up the OSD (on screen display) and try resetting the projector to factory defaults.
2.You can also bring up the OSD, All Images, and adjust the Color Settings.
3.You can also bring up the OSD, Video Images, and adjust the Color Saturation, Sharpness, and Tint.
4.Check the lamp light on the projector.
If it is lit solid orange, then you need to replace the lamp.
5.Make sure you are running the system at the native projector resolution, which is 1024X768.

Karell,
We are an architectural firm, and we use our 3200MP as a presentation tool for our clients. Color accuracy is VERY important.
I've gone through the OSD color settings and have not been able to get the colors on the projector to come close to the laptop display (we've even tried using different laptops). I'm not a color expert, therefore I'm not sure exactly how to adjust for color (if yellow is too brown do I lower the red and raise the green?...no clue). I've spent a good deal of time trying various settings, to no avail.
This projector is no good to us if it's not at least somewhat color accurate. Can Dell offer any real support on this issue? Maybe an engineer could spend some time adjusting the colors to match a laptop screen using a standard color chart, and come up with some RGB numbers that would help us get closer to the right colors. Maybe a firmware upgrade? (not even sure if a projector has firmware...)
We're not looking for perfection, but the colors are way off.
Thanks for your time and attention to this issue,

I did some searching around and found an article stating this problem is inherent by projectors that
use DLP technology. All of Dells projectors use DLP technology.
Unfortunately you can try to adjust the colors as close as possible, but they are not going to match what you see on the
LCD screen. If you are still unhappy with the projector, you may want to contact Dell Customer Care to return it before
your 30 days from the purchase date are up.

Problem:
My projector produces color that is slightly off tint.
Dicussion:
The problem with slightly off tint colors is inherent to DLP technology.
For example, anything that should be pure yellow may appear to be yellow with a slight green tint.
This problem is most noticeable on yellow but could occur on other colors as well.
The Projectors use DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology to produce a high quality, bright (high lumen) picture in the smallest possible footprint. The problem with slightly off tint colors is inherent to DLP technology and will occur on any DLP projector, regardless of manufacturer. This problem is inherent to DLP technology and can not be fixed by replacing the projector or changing the bulb. All DLP projectors will have this problem, which is common for all projectors in the equivalent price range/feature. In some cases, lowering the "White Intensity" may help.

Karell,
Unfortunately we purchased it back in June of '03, and are just now noticing problems w/color (maybe we're creating more yellow buildings?
).
Thanks for your help w/this.

Thanks TrashyRabbit,
I ended up taking it to a professional high-end Audio Visual specialist and paying to have them calibrate it. It's much better than before, but still not the same as an LCD monitor. The DVD would have been cheaper, but they did a good job.
