Worked until bulb blew. Is this unit still worth repairing? Since bulbs are fairly cheap.
Subsequent of events:
When bulb blew, I turned power off and attempted to replace bulb with 3rd party mfg replacement. Don't know if replacement bulb was good.
Inserted replacement bulb. Reattached bulb compartment cover. Ensured power switch near cover opening was engaged by cover.
Plugged monitor cord into computer. Attempted to turn projector on.
Did not power up. Power button did NOT illuminate at all (no green or amber or red) Fan did not turn on.
Power at plug good. Tested power cord on other devices to test - and power cord good. Swapped out power cored with other power working cords with same connector. No Power. Re-inserted old bulb. Still no power
Is there a fuse inside the unit that can be reset? Does it not power up if replacement bulb is bad or there is no bulb?
Welcome to our community.
As per the message sent to us, the bulb that was replaced could have caused the reverse current and short the system board.
We also request you to share the service tag for us to check for more details. You can refer to this link which is a video with the steps to find the service tag.
Service Tag <removed due to account security purpose>. The bulb specifies on the label that it is a replacement for this unit - but I know that may be in question. Thank you for your initial diagnosis. I can't find a single reference online where a projector bulb could cause reverse current and shorted a system board.
Thank you for sharing the service tag. As the projector is not powering on currently after the bulb replacement, we suspect that this could be an issue with the reverse current causing the system board or any internal component failure. Having said that, we see that the age of the projector is almost 13 years and hence we are not sure if the parts are available. You can contact out of warranty department at 1-800-288-4410, so they can check if the parts are available. If not, you might have to consider purchasing a new projector. Our Out of Warranty department is available 24.
