3300mp usb connection takes over computer

I have a 3300mp projector and a Dell Latitude notebook running windows 2000. When I connect the usb connection to the laptop, the mouse on the laptop starts moving around the screen, right clicking on the screen, and makes it impossible to do anything... basically it has a life of its own.  The projector can even be in standby mode while this occurs. When I disconnect the usb the mouse on the laptop is fine. Any ideas how to rectify the situation? This setup is basically only used for power point presentations. Virus definitions are up to date and can't find any viruses. The projector is only 6 weeks old and has only been used a few time. It worked fine the first 2-3 times.

Thanks for the reply. Taking the batteries out or moving the remote so it can't interact with unit will stop the problem.  What did you do to correct the problem? replace the remote?......... Since my initial post I've done some more experiments and discovered that the unit only has problems when plugged into certain power outlet. It won't work in one room, so take it across the hall and it works great/perfectly in that room!!! I've replace batteries in remote too, had no effect.  Any more ideas on this???  I've also tried using a surge protector, made no difference.

We have a district full of the 3300 Projectors. Great units. We had the same problem as you and found the hand controller to be the problem. Start the unit and move your mouse to the center of the screen. When it starts, pull out the batteries from the hand unit and see if it stops. This is how we resolved this issue, Out of all 300 plus units in our district, this is the only problem from that model we have had.  Good Luck.

Ok i see,

look for a device in the same area that maybe an Inferred device transmitting a signal such as a Ipaq type device, a Laptop, or a PC that may have the option "connect to or transmit Via Infrared port"  turned on. due to the hand device transmitting Via Infrared, you may simply be activating that option from the transition from your Remote Control device. This would explain why it will work in a different room.

But this may not be your case. I would look around in both rooms and find what is missing in the room that works. It may be a device in your walls as well. Some Bugs and Cameras use IFR to transmit. i would think it would be the latter issues my self. Are you having this problem in a Public building, School, Small office, Home?

As you can tell, I love this stuff.
