Notebook screen settings
I rec'd my new 2200mp today so have not used it yet in a computer class but the question I have is can I keep the notebook setting at 1024x768 and still have a clear picture on the screen? I would rather not have the notebook set at 800x600 as the lcd becomes too small. Also I set it up today & the projector started right up so I did not have to use fn-f8. Is that normal? I have a Soney valio running xp. thinking all Jim Johnston

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
The projector should automatically pick up the video signal and output it.
This is normal operation for the projector.
If for some reason it did not pick up the video signal, that is when you would try FN+F8.
The native resolution of the projector is 800X600.
The projector may not work if your system resolution is above that, but it does not hurt to try.
If you cannot get the projector to work at 1024X768, then you can simply reduce the resolution to 800X600.

It would be a function of the projector.
I check the specifications page, and it states that the projector should
work with various resolutions, including 1024X768. (Analog signal only)
You can see that chart here.
I also double checked with an engineer to make sure.
The specifications listed for some devices are not always correct, or clear.
But in any case, the projector should support that resolution but works best with 800X600.
And, from personal experience when a projector does not work at a higher resolution, reducing
it down to 800X600 seems to solve the problem.
