R520 USB3 not USB3-ing after USB2 (CentOS 6)

The SS (USB3) port on the back has worked fine for years. I mistakenly plugged a USB2 cable in the port to an external USB drive. It was found and worked, but of course, it was slow. Realizing my mistake, I plugged in the proper USB3 cable, but the drive is never found by the OS. Any USB3 device plugged in gets nothing. Rebooting hasn't helped. I was going to next see if somehow USB3 was turned off in the BIOS and/or try a full powerdown, but it's a server and I'd like to avoid it if possible. Anyone ever seen this before? Cheers.

Hello

I'm pretty sure USB 3 was not added to our servers until 13th generation. You can review the system manual on the support page for USB specifications.

My apologies. I meant R530. There is a USB3 port on the back. Re: R520 USB3 not USB3-ing after USB2 (CentOS 6)

Based on the output, it looks like it is detected by the OS as a USB 3.0 port. This is likely a software issue. You can boot to our support live image to see if the issue persists in another OS.

Re: R520 USB3 not USB3-ing after USB2 (CentOS 6)

After much ado, it appears to *not* be the operating system.

Here are some things that did not work:

reboot
kernel upgrade + reboot
bios upgrade

But what did work was to completely shut down the machine, disconnect
the power, wait a bit, plug it back in and then bring it back up.
After that, the USB3 port on the R530 recognized USB3 disks again.

Cheers.
