Hello, Please try below troubleshooting steps.

to power drain

Shut down server.

Remove power cable (all power cables if there are redundant power supplies)

Hold the power button in for 15 seconds.

Reconnect the power cables.

Wait 2 mins(this is to give the iDRAC time to initialize)

Restart the server.

Resetting iDRAC https://dell.to/3K4PvWi

Checking NVRAM clear https://dell.to/3FTFUBd

If you have iDRAC port card please reseat and check again https://dell.to/3Lqc5Jm

If you don't have iDRAC port card then to take the server to minimum post configuration

The minimum components to allow the PowerEdge R420 to complete POST are:

  • System Board
  • CPU1 with heat sink (minimum for troubleshooting)
  • Single DIMM configuration with DIMM in socket A1
  • Control Panel with cable (to power system on)
  • Expansion Riser
  • PSU (and for redundant PSU also the PDB/PIB)

If the above troubleshooting steps don't help I would suspect a hardware error. It could be iDRAC port card or motherboard. If you need iDRAC port card part number is 2827M

Hope that helps!

None of the suggested repairs had any effect on my T420. Has anyone ever solved this issue?   Motherboard???

All of this steps is not help.
Dell T430
Symptoms:

  1. During boot, the system hangs for a long time at:

Initializing iDRAC...
  1. Then the system shows repeated iDRAC failure messages:

SWC0700: iDRAC is not ready. The configuration values cannot be accessed.

After this get window
UEFI0315: Unable to process an iDRAC request to configure Secure Boot keys because of a communication error. UEFI0029: Unable to initialize iDRAC because of some critical issues.
  1. The system suggests this sequence:

Remove input power from the system, wait for 30 seconds, and re-apply input power. Turn on the system and retry the operation. Make sure the iDRAC firmware and BIOS firmware are up to date and retry the operation.

I have done all of these steps multiple times.
BIOS is already upgraded to the latest version (2.19.0).
iDRAC is still not initializing.

  1. In BIOS, the “iDRAC Settings” page show me Operation Failed.
Lifecylce Controller not available. (grayed out)
Driver setting - Some drivers not Healthy in front of iDRAC

  2. Fans run at maximum speed constantly because iDRAC cannot communicate with the system.
Idrac board fully OFF, no any light on it.
"i" button at iDRAC port not responding.
"i" button on tower no reaction
    Tower display is not working.

  3. If I physically remove the iDRAC daughterboard, I get:

iDRAC not responding

But the behavior (long delay + fan full speed) remains the same.

  1. The server boots the OS normally after pressing F1 to continue, but no iDRAC functions are available.

Actions already performed:

  • Full power drain (AC unplug 30+ seconds) – repeated several times

  • CMOS battery removal – same result

  • BIOS updated to the newest version

  • Removed and reinstalled the iDRAC daughterboard

  • Jumper reset

  • Tested booting without the module

Expected behavior:
iDRAC should initialize normally, accessible via IP, and system fans should return to normal RPM.

Question:
Does this indicate a failed iDRAC module (0R2PRC), or could this be a motherboard-side BMC fault?
Any additional diagnostic steps before I replace the daughterboard?

Hi,

Ultimately, it can conclude it is the mainboard issue.

Can I check if you have tried accessing RACADM to reset the iDRAC in OS? Here is the reference: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-my/000126703/how-to-reset-the-internal-dell-remote-access-controller-idrac-on-a-poweredge-server, of course you can't access iDRAC, so you can skip the top portion of troubleshooting and probably start from after iDRAC Service Module title.
