Question on cluster mode

Hi,

I have 2 question (all about space capacity).

I do a PoC on a 5 hypervisor (ESXI) in hyperconverged mode.

First i try in a 3-node mode (1 Master, 1 Slave, 1 tie Breaker and 2 standby).

Second i try in a 5-node mode (1 Master, 2 Slave and 2 Tie Breaker)

Third i try in a 3-node mode (1 Master, 1 Slave, 1 Tie Breaker and 2 other just SDS).

In this 3 configuration i have same "Free for Volume Allocation (Net)" capacity.

But if i can lose 2 node, my Net Capacity should be lower.

In case of 5 node or more, why continue to use the mode 3-Node?

Regards,

Cyrille

Hi Cyrille,

Please note that 3- and 5-node are MDM cluster configuration - if you are running hyperconverged configuration, I am assuming that all 5 nodes always participate as SDS's - that's why you are seeing the same capacity regardless of the number of the MDM cluster members. Please remember that available space depends only on the number and capacity of the SDS's and has nothing to do with MDM configuration (1-, 3- or 5-node).

Cheers,

Pawel
