AHCI Bios Setting for Solid State Drive on Dell Studio XPS 8100 can I add AHCI somehow?

Hi, just installed a Samsung 840 Pro Series Solid State Drive.  To get maximum performance is says I need to select AHCI in Bios for that drive deselecting RAID or IDE.  My Bios only shows RAID and SA (can't remember the rest of the SA selection).

Is there any way to change my system so I can use AHCI?  I am running WIndows 7 64bit.

Thanks, Roger

Hi Roger,

I've got the same setup. There is no AHCI option in the BIOS. However, it is my understanding that the XPS 8100 SATA controller does support AHCI, although the Samsung Wizard gave me the same message to switch to AHCI for maximum performance. Nevertheless, my SSD is running fine.
