Add 2nd PATA hard drive to Dimension 4600

I have a dimension 4600 with a 40gb IDE hard drive. I want to add a 320gb IDE in the second slot. Will my jumper setting on the 40gb hd remain "cable select" and what will the setting be on the 320gb hd? When I power unit up will I need to change anything in the bios setup?

Thank you for the reply. Will I need a cable to attach to the existing cable on the gray side (2) to go to my 2nd hd or should it be long enough to reach? Using the gray connection will make it secondary in bios setup correct? Trying to get all my ducks in a row before the undertaking.

All drives all controllers should be cable select.

You will then have to enable the drive in Bios.  Which is primary vs Secondary is determined by the connector on the cable.

Blue goes to motherboard, Black Goes to 1st drive and Grey goes to 2nd drive.  The drive caddy s stack on each other and use 2 screws.

I looked inside cabinet again and my existing hd is mounted in the housing close to motherboard. I will move it to the front of the computer and reattach the power p3 and black connector. This will allow for the gray connector to plug into the second hd and p5 for the power. The figure you supplied is very helpful, thank you very much.
