Adding a 3rd drive to a RAID 1 Precision T3400

Hi:

I have a T3400 Precision workstation that is set up and working fine as a  RAID 1 array.  I want to add a non-raid solid state drive and eventually shift Windows XP over to the SSD and leave the RAID 1 for data files.  Any guidance would be appreciated.  Do I just put the drive on SATA #3 and format as usual?  Any problems with this and the RAID controller (should be a Dell SAS 6i/R PCI Exp card).

Once the SSD is formatted, I was going to Ghost it with an image of my C drive then change the BIOS to boot from the SSD.  Am I crazy or will this work?
