Hi, I have hunted this site for an answer but........... I have a 8200 which has never had a DVD player, so I bought one from Dell! It will not work! On my peri..... I show Maxtor 6L08004 and HL-DT-ST-CD-RW-GCE-8400B which it says is a DVD CD lecteur, Fine. but nothing happens! I have tried the drivers, the Bios no difference but It insists that there are no problems by the machine, it is active! Please can some one help, Thanks

Hi Gemine,,
This drive does not support reading DVD media. It is a standard CD/RW drive. It will read CD media and write to CD-R & CD-RW media.
Here is your Dell User Guide:
GCE-8400B

Hi Geminie,
I am sorry, I may have misunderstood your question. The drive is not reading any CD disc nor burning CD-R CD-RW media?
When you installed the drive, what jumper setting did you use? Dell uses the Cable Select jumper setting, not MAster/Slave?
Best Regards!

Hi Geminie,
Did you select that entry in Device Manager, click uninstall then reboot the system?
Best Regards

Hi Geminie,
Here is a good link Mike provided on the jumpers.

As for the USB issue, have you uninstall the USB hub from Device Manager, then rebooted?
Best Regards!
