Blu-Ray drive for Inspiron 5558

I need to know the part number for a Blu-Ray drive that is compatible with the Dell Inspiron 5558? Thanks in advance.

Hi BOLDERFASTER,

Thank you for writing to Dell Community Forum.

For me to better assist in troubleshooting, please click my DELL-username and send me a Private Message with the Dell Service Tag number and your email address, so that we can check on the current configuration and provide the correct part number.

Note: please don't mention the service tag or email id on the public forum as it contains your personal information

There won't be one, as Dell never offered the option.  The system will take a standard slimline notebook blue-ray drive -- that said, be sure you DO NOT buy just a bare drive.  You will need the drive to come with software to play blue-ray discs (windows itself cannot).  If you buy just a bare drive without software, note that the cost of the software you'll need can easily exceed the cost of the drive if you puchase it bare.

Blue-ray drives tend to generate a fair amount of heat, particularly when writing, so if you want a writer, an external one is a far better idea.
