CD/DVD ROM definitively broken - how to disable completely
On a XPS 15 L521X, running WIndows 8.1. The CD ROM drive is dead - still recognized as OK by DELL Diags, and working properly by Windows. However, no disk is recognized any longer.
So... I bought an external drive, and would like to completely disable the internal one - not only disabling the driver in windows, just to shut it off so it does not make any sound each time I turn on my computer or go out of hibertnation.
I have not found the option in the BIOS. Any idea ?

The only definitive way is to remove the drive from the system.

Thanks,
In my case, this would mean opening the laptop from the bottom and access the power cable. I will not try - too much risk.
Any other ideas ?
