The side slot in Dell Studio laptops is not very forgiving! A slightly warped disk may hang up on attempts to eject.. A definite symptom is if the disk does eject after numerous attempts (alignment of the warp matches requirements to exit through the slot). Lay the disk on a flat surface ... if you can detect a slight wobble when you press down on an edge, the disk is warped and may cause problems.
This was a normal size disk correct? you may need to remove the drive and see if there is a small hole in the front of the drive to operate the manual eject. Drive removal instructions are HERE<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed / replaced from this post by Dell>
